Operation Santa: The Marine Corps Family Foundation
"For the last two years I have organized a care package drive for the Marines deployed overseas during the holidays. I started this during the 2008 holiday season because my son Ryan, a Marine was deployed to Iraq. It was a way for me to be a part of what he was doing in Iraq, it kept me busy so I wasn't thinking about the danger he was in every day of his deployment. It was a way for me to honor the brave Americans who were deployed with my son, who put their lives on the line every day.
It is so important for these Marines to be remembered at this time of year. They are away from home, away from their families. They will not be home for Thanksgiving dinner, they will not wake up Christmas morning to open presents with their families.
I am working with a new organization this year, the Marine Corps Family Foundation Operation Santa. I am collecting items for Marines deployed to Afghanistan. I've adopted a battalion of Marines.
Their requests are small, they request things like shaving cream and foot powder. Please help me get the word out. Please help me help the brave young Americans during this holiday season.
We will be packing boxes and accepting donation from Friday November 26 through Sunday November 28. I hope to have this wrapped up and ready to ship by December 3, so the Marines will receive the care packages by Christmas.

The items we are looking for :
Personal Care Items:
deodorant, body powder, foot powder, tooth paste, tooth brushes, razors, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, cough drops, hand warmers, soap, shampoo, vitamin C.
Snacks (need to be individually wrapped):
rice krispie Treats, crackers and cheese snacks, sunflower seeds, chewing gum, nuts, soup mix, mac and cheese, cereal bars, hot chocolate, pringles chips, candy, freeze dried coffee.
Miscellaneous:
playing cards, dice, zip lock bags, AA batteries, Lysol wipes, paper back books, magazines, paper, pens, international calling cards.
Shipping is $12.50 per box, we accept cash donatins to offset the shipping charges. Each box is shared by at least 20 Marines.
