Review: Vincent Ingala's Coast To Coast

Image
Vincent Ingala's third album is inspired by his now 8 month move to Longbeach, California from Prospect, CT.  The tracks "Coast To Coast" and "Making The Journey" exemplifies that trek from East Coast to West Coast.  This album was two years in the making. The title track is already getting exclusive air play across the pond in the UK via our good friend Rich Edwards show SmoothGrooves on GFM 96.6FM, Gloucester FM . This third outing is a maturing of sorts, for a young man that still has much more untapped potential waiting to escape.  But i'm biased.  For sure, those that where there from the beginning already know this.  Vincent's parents Leo and Dawn knew that "there was something special going on and this was confirmed when in fifth grade he mastered the keyboard before trading it in for the saxophone." Once again Vincent's determination and zest for life is evident on every track of this new release.  Not only did he write s...

Atmosphere Productions: 24 Not So Standard Standards

Image
American Standards have been entertaining listeners for decades.  The lyrics and music of Gershwin, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Dean Martin and many more are some of the finest in the world. So popular are some of these songs, that at almost every wedding, I get a request for "The Way You Look Tonight" or "Summer Wind" or "L.O.V.E".  Sometimes the guests don't even know the artist... "just that song..." Some of today's modern singers, like Harry Connick Jr., Michael Buble, Nora Jones, Jamie Cullum, Rod Stewart and Steve Tyrell, have tried to take on the heavy mantle of the American Songbook with varying degrees of success.  Here are some of our favorites for Cocktail Hour or Dinner: Nora Jones - Come Away With Me Michael Buble - Come Fly With Me Diana Krall - The Look Of Love Harry Connick Jr. - We Are In Love Jamie Cullum - Frontin' Steve Tyrell - When You Wish Upon A Star Renee Ols...

Atmosphere Productions: Your Ceremony Belongs to You

Image
To me marriage is a very special time in life. It is one of the important defining moments in life A wedding to me is a promise of hope between two people who love each other sincerely, who honor each other as individuals, and who wish to unite their lives and share the future together. I always feel it is an honor to be with a couple when they are married and I love it.  I believe that the wedding ceremony should reflect the couple. There are lots of possibilities for what can be included in the ceremony and I try to share as many of them as I know to each couple and let them decide. The ceremony belongs to the couple and I trust that each couple will know what needs to be included and left out. I believe the wedding should be a creative blend of the spiritual and the romantic. I do not believe the ceremony should last forever. 30 minutes feels just right to me.                               ...

Atmosphere Productions: Allyson & Dave - May 7th

Image
It's always a nice touch when the banquet facility calls ahead of time to check if we have any requirements, before we have a chance to contact them. Allyson and Dave's wedding took us to the Trumbull Marriott where we had the pleasure of working with Linda Klein.  She made us aware of the best time to arrive and when we pulled in, her staff directed us to the proper entrance for an easy load-in.  For this we are truly appreciative. The Marriott's standard banquet room settings made for an easy set-up, with the specifications we had discussed with Allyson and Dave prior to their wedding: Music system set-up on the dance floor, guests tables surrounding and older guests seated away from the speakers.  This was a key element of the pre-planning. Cocktail Hour was held in the lobby area just outside the main ballroom.  We set up a remote broadcast speaker system, with no wires, transmitting a music mix of smooth jazz, standards and love songs, as requested. With ...

Atmosphere Productions: John & Tara - April 15th

Image
There is one irrefutable fact: Atmosphere Productions listens to their Bride and Groom's.  Tara and John made this abundantly clear from our first meeting - nothing cheesy, lots of FUN and dancing to their favorite 80's and 90's dance classics. Tara and John were introduced into the Farmington Club Clubhouse with a custom edit of Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel" and went into their First Dance Climax "I Love You".  With our optional dance floor lighting package, we spotlighted the First Dance which showcased Tara's beautiful wedding dress. Since dinner would be a more relaxed food stations, Tara and John wanted the music to compliment and allow guests to dance during dinner. The dinner music was carefully preselected to showcase their choices: Billy Ocean - Suddenly Peter Cetera - Glory Of Love Bryan Adams, Sting & Rod Stewart - All For Love Richard Marx - Hold On To The Nights Paula Abdul - Rush, Rush PM Dawn - I...

Mike & Julie - January 1st

Image
On an unusually bright and sunny day, Mike & Julie celebrated their wedding day on the first day of the first month of the eleventh year (1-1-11). The management and staff of the Pavilion On Crystal Lake as usual did a fantastic job creating the holiday atmosphere and providing a sumptuous, luxurious meal.  Photography was provided by Elizabeth Wertz Photography - coincidentally, we performed at Elizabeth & Matthew's wedding back on August 13th, 2005. Also attending were our previous Bride & Grooms, Alicia & Jonathan June 7th, 2003 and Erin & Eric July 12th, 2008.  It's always nice to see our previous clients again and catch up on what they've been doing.....to see so many at one wedding was such a delight and very heartwarming. Mike & Julie selected Custom Introductions for the Bridal Party and entered, Mike with top hat and tails, to Bing Crosby's "True Love" and into "Loving A Person" by Sara Groves as the First Dan...

Love Songs That Make Go "Awwwwww"

Image
So we have a packed dance floor.... "the heat and excitement is somewhat reminiscent of a Calcutta sauna...", when an older guest requests.... no asks.... no suggests.... no DEMANDS that we play a slow song NEXT because they ONLY dance to "Love Songs".  What to do??? Here's just a few from our a near perfect list of Love Songs that I keep in a ready-made playlist for just such an occasion.  These songs will ensure a packed dance floor with couples romantically linked with our typical three cut love song set (in no particular order): Etta James - At Last Van Morrison - Someone Like You Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight Lionel & Diana - Endless Love Percy Sledge - When A Man Loves A Woman Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling In Love Tim McGraw & Faith Hill - It's Your Love Bryan Adams - Everything I Do, I Do For You Flamingos - I Only Have Eyes For You Natali...

The Secret Life Of A Wedding Photographer

Image
It was only recently, whilst speaking with an old friend, that the conversation turned to how lucky I was to only have to work one or two days a week.  My friend made the assumption that the rest of the week I sat around and ate Bon-Bon's like Peg from "Married With Children". You know what happens when you assume..... Perception is "someone's" reality... certainly not mine:  16-20 hours of planning, preparing and performing at each function, meetings with prospective clients and current clients, answering endless emails and phone calls, purchasing and preparing equipment & vehicles, advertising and marketing the business, website, blog and Facebook updates, office work and not to mention learning how to use software, attending bridal shows, trade shows and uncompensated events we do throughout the year..... Hardly anytime left for a personal life! So-called leading wedding publications perpetuate these myths by writing ridiculously inaccurate articl...

Carter & Dan - August 14th

Image
It's been awhile since we ventured up to A Villa Louisa , on the hilltop overlooking Bolton, Connecticut.  Formally, known as Vito's Birch Mountain Inn, this was a most frequented eatery and banquet facility spot some twenty years ago, with owner Tony welcoming you with a broad smile and maybe a hearty laugh.  In recent years, Claudia was that welcoming smile plus her distinctive style of running around making sure everything was just right. As the saying goes everything must change.  A Villa Louisa have new owners and is now Tastebud's At Birch Mountain.  Lana and her staff have taken over the role of welcoming guests to the new banquet facility.  We wish a happy retirement to Tony and his family. So, Carter and Dan chose this location for beauty and they were not disappointed on this summer morning with bright sunshine and low humidity.... a perfect day for an outdoor wedding ceremony.  Atmosphere Productions provided an outdoor ceremony sound system ...

Erin & Michael - August 6th

Image
The Lily Lake Inn is one of those often forgotten out of the way reception places in Wolcott, CT.  With a landscaped garden, gazebo, outdoor patio, stone walkways and the fountain as your backdrop, this really is a stunning facility.  In this beautiful setting, on a cool August evening, Erin and Michael chose to have their Ceremony and Reception. As the sun began to set Erin walked down the aisle to the sounds of "Trumpet Voluntary" played by our Ceremony Violinist Ben Dean from Atmosphere Productions.  Erin and Michael had also taken our suggestion of the Ceremony Sound System , so that all invited guests could hear the Ceremony perfectly. Quite uniquely, the Ceremony ended with "The Star Wars Theme" played on the Trumpet by a family friend... priceless! Erin & Michael stayed outside for pictures, taking full advantage of the surrounds and Cocktail Hour music was provided inside the Ana Delia Banquet Room to the sounds of love songs and jazz vocal stand...
