Top 5 Most Forgotten Wedding Day Details

We’ve been doing this along time….. seen thousands of weddings.  We’ve given great advice over the years… sometimes our clients listen to us, sometimes they don’t!  Some of these clients forget key wedding day details whilst in the midst of reviewing menus, flowers, transportation and the myriad other wedding planning challenges.

It is no surprise then that even the most obvious wedding day details can be forgotten. Some of these can be added with ease, but some are so integral that they could possibly cause big issues on your wedding day.

Here’s our Top 5:

Cake Knife & Server

Although caterer or banquet facility will cut the cake and serve it to your guests, don’t forget that your photographer may want to take a photo of the cake BEFORE the Cake Cutting Ceremony.  Having a lovely Cake Knife & Server helps make for a nice photograph.

Keep Toasts Short

Wedding toasts should be kept heartfelt, AND short, in the vicinity of 2-3 minutes. Maximum, in my expert opinion, is 5 minutes. Many wonderful (and hopefully funny) memories and well wishes can be shared in just a couple of minutes.  Trust me when I say this… no one appreciates the rambling best man, maid of honor, or parents.

Eat During The Day

Wedding day details like eating are so important. Keep yourself happy and healthy by eating food before and after the ceremony. Assign someone in your bridal party to have snacks available.  No one wants the Bride or Groom fainting on their wedding day!

Vendors Need To Eat, Too

Most vendors who have been working a majority of the day should have a break during dinner, preferably exactly when the bride and groom are eating, to ensure that they are re-charged and can jump to the next sub-event ready. You should certainly take it upon yourself to gauge their work hours and provide meals, as needed. You should also remember to provide a designated table and chairs for your vendors, so that they can actually sit and rest while eating. A happy vendor means a better output of work.

Subtle Touches Can Make Huge Impacts

If you’d like to bring elements of subtle elegance or fun, don’t forget the small things. Investing money in a few uplights will do wonders!

Finally, remember:  It’s your day…..Blogs and Pinterest are wonderful sources of inspiration, and that’s what it should be INSPIRATION. It’s so important not to lose touch with who you and your partner are simply because something is momentarily popular. Select design inspirations that truly capture YOU and that are representative of YOUR life together.
