Flashback: Atmosphere Productions & Muscular Dystrophy Association
Long before charitable events became fashionable with DJ's, Atmosphere Productions was, without much fanfare, at the forefront of these type of functions. In the late 1980's we were approached by Brighter Tomorrows Inc., to host and provide music for their fundraising event for Muscular Dystrophy Association. The concept was simple, pick a date in the winter, invite people to a fundraising event and as the Grand Prize Raffle give away a free trip. The twist - bring your suitcase, packed and ready to fly off to a sunny destination THAT NIGHT!! Before, September 11th, it was possible to book an international flight and travel the same day without much difficulty. From the first event, these Suitcase Parties became hugely successful. People would arrive with packed suitcases, with Hawaiian shirts and shorts, listen to and dance the night way to great music.
