Vincent Ingala Strikes Again on "Can't Stop Now"

Vincent Ingala strikes again with his sophomore effort entitled "Can't Stop Now". Live performances for his CD release party took place at the Palace Theater, in Waterbury and in conjunction with WEIB 106.3FM's, "Smooth, Soulful & After Work Cool Down" at the Holyoke Hotel & Conference Center, in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The Palace Theater release party was a home away from home for many of the guests.  After all, this was home turf for Vincent and most of the attendees.  And as Chuck Ingala told us, this was his old stomping grounds and a tour stop for many established artist in the 60's & 70's, before the Palace Theater fell into disrepair.  Only to be revitalized, in the late 90's, with the urban renewal of the City of Waterbury. As always, Vincent's live performances are reminiscent of a house party - no one afraid to dance whenever the groove takes them.  He commands the stage with his presence and a charm that is well ...

Vincent Ingala: Can't Stop Now

We've been praising the talents of this young man for some time.  Born and raised in Connecticut with more talent than this small State can contain - a future star for sure! The title track is already getting exclusive air play from across the pond via our good friend Rich Edwards show  SmoothGrooves  on GFM 96.6FM, Gloucester FM.   Now you can join Connecticut's jazz sensation Vincent Ingala on Thursday June 14th at 7pm, for an intimate CD release party at the Palace Theatre , in Waterbury, in the Grand Foyer, celebrating his highly anticipated second CD release entitled, "Can't Stop Now." Guests will enjoy a live performance by Ingala and will have the oppportunity to have their CDs signed by the 19 year-old jazz prodigy. Inglala is rapidly emerging as one of the hottest talents around, and his 2010 debut release, ‘North End Soul,’ (reviewed here) was recently described by Smooth Jazz Journalist of The Year nominee, Denis Poole, as “little sh...

Vincent Ingala & Jonathan Fritzen

We have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving... in the Northeast this year we have endured floods, a tornado, earthquake, hurricane and most recently a freak snow storm blizzard in October.  I am particularly thankful to have all my family and friends safe and well during these past months.  I am also thankful to have taken the Friday after Thanksgiving (Black Friday) off and with my friend, fellow broadcaster, former WTIC-FM air-personality Keith Alan and our wives, we ventured due North for a little smooth jazz. Keith and Vincent's parents Leo & Dawn have known each other since the Disco era, club nights and mobile DJ events with "The Sounds of Leo".  So this was much like a reunion... old friends reminiscing about the good 'ole days! Once again WEIB 106.3FM's "Smooth, Soulful & Afterwork Cool Down" presented a spectacular evening featuring Jonathan Fritzen & Vincent Ingala.  Both artists have been featured in this series befor...

A Evening With Vincent Ingala

Image
A sold out two night show at The Clockwork Repertory Theatre in Oakville, Connecticut saw the return of Vincent Ingala to a hometown crowd.... who where not disappointed. We've been raving about Vincent Ingala since we first heard of him via our good friend Rich Edwards SmoothGrooves Radio Show on Gloucester FM and saw him live last year performing tracks from his debut CD "North End" . Since then, this young 18 year old local talent has played at The Lilly Pad (Upstairs at Toad's Place) New Haven, Ct, The Newport Beach Jazz Festival, Balcones Heights Jazz Festival in San Antonio, TX, The Dave Koz & Friends Cruise to Alaska... opened up for Jonathan Butler, and has rubbed shoulders with Mindi Abair and Sheila E. (we are jealous!) In fact, after his performance in Connecticut, Vincent was jetting off to The Thornton Winery in Temecula, CA to open for Chris Botti. All this success is well deserved.  Vincent is able to capture the essence of the songs and ...

Vincent Ingala - North End Soul

Image
On this planned Friday night off, I had arranged to see a young new smooth jazz artist, Vincent Ingala .  Another one of the new crop of smooth jazz artists from Connecticut, who seem to have captured the pulse of this genre of music. Vincent first came to my attention via my friend Rich Edwards Smooth Grooves Show on Gloucester FM earlier this year.  The buzz was out on the jazz funk of "It Is What It Is" from his "North End Soul" self produced CD..... did I mention he plays all the instruments AND is only 17 years old! "North End Soul" contains many unexpected gems that reveal much more about the musical knowledge of this youngster.  Vincent stays within the soft smooth jazz realm with his opening tracks "Vintage Vibe" and "Free To Groove" and continues the groove with "Midnight Pass".  These tracks fit nicely into today's smooth jazz radio programming and would work well during Cocktail Hour and Dinner at a wedding...
