In this ever changing wedding industry, nothing seems to stay the same...and with banquet facilities sometimes everything changes.  In just the last couple of months, we've visited A Villa Louisa in Bolton to find new owners,  Tunxis Plantation Pavilion in Farmington to find a whole new JBL speaker sound system installed and controlled by the very likable Joe.  And now The Riverview in Simsbury have installed uplighting in their ballrooms. Cory and Mikki had selected The Riverview in Simsbury for it's stunning location and on this day they were not disappointed.  With granite dance floors, beautiful crystal chandeliers, high ceilings and spectacularly huge windows overlooking the countryside, this place was built for our nearly 200 guests!! Atmosphere Productions provided a four speaker sound system that ran the length of the long dance floor and provided  "live" Cocktail Hour music with Guitarist Susan, who played a set of standards, jazz and few Italia...

A professional DJ will act as both Disc Jockey and Master of Ceremonies, or MC. Your MC will coordinate all the behind the scene details for you, guide you through every aspect of your wedding reception and will be, in essence, your wedding coordinator that day. Your banquet facility contact will be responsible for organizing the meal and clean up, but that is typically where their role ends and where your professional DJ will take over. Your DJ will make sure that your bridal party and parents know where to be, where to go, and what to do. They will line everyone up for introductions and will make your event flow smoothly from one event to the next. They will sense the energy level of the party and will react to keep things upbeat and festive and in tune to the directions that you have given them as to the feel that you want at your wedding, whether it be low-key or high energy interaction. On the day of your reception we would like to make the musical experience as enjoyable as possible for as many of your guests as possible. Sometimes, the noise level maybe too high (don't be afraid to ask us to turn it down!) or too low (we'll gladly turn it up!). On other occasions we are placed in the unusual position where the music level CANNOT be turned down. How is this possible? When you complete the floor plan and seating arrangements it is crucial that you consider the location of the DJ system, i.e. speakers, in relation to your guests, i.e. older family members. Atmosphere Productions contract requests that you locate the DJ in "a designated reasonable location adjacent to the dancing area, for speaker location". It is our experience that the best possible sound level can be achieved if the speakers are located on or near where the dancing will occur. It was only recently, whilst speaking with an old friend, that the conversation turned to how lucky I was to only have to work one or two days a week.  My friend made the assumption that the rest of the week I sat around and ate Bon-Bon's like Peg from "Married With Children". It's been awhile since we ventured up to A Villa Louisa , on the hilltop overlooking Bolton, Connecticut.  Formally, known as Vito's Birch Mountain Inn, this was a most frequented eatery and banquet facility spot some twenty years ago, with owner Tony welcoming you with a broad smile and maybe a hearty laugh.  In recent years, Claudia was that welcoming smile plus her distinctive style of running around making sure everything was just right. As the saying goes everything must change.  A Villa Louisa have new owners and is now Tastebud's At Birch Mountain.  Lana and her staff have taken over the role of welcoming guests to the new banquet facility.  We wish a happy retirement to Tony and his family.
