Atmosphere Productions: Does Size Really Matter?

Image
According to the Association for Bridal Consultants, the average American wedding includes 175 guests, and the average size of the wedding party is 12 people. The average Connecticut wedding includes an average of 133 guests, based on data from The Knot 's 2013 Real Wedding Survey. Many couples may view these averages and feel pressured to throw a big wedding. But smaller events can be just as much fun and easier on the wallet. Small weddings tend to be more intimate. Couples can spend more individual time with guests instead of having to spread their time thinly around a large reception hall. Destination weddings have become quite popular and are most successful with a small group. But does guest size really matter?  It should ONLY matter to the Bride and Groom or the persons involved in financing their special day. 5 Important Ceremony Questions Answered By Rev. Dr. Henderson

Image
Selecting your Officiant for wedding ceremony is one of the most difficult tasks that most prospective Bride and Grooms need to do before their wedding day. We recommend just a few Officiant's with whom we've worked with before.  Not all Officiants understand the concept of public speaking, working with sound equipment and other vendors, to make the Bride and Grooms ceremony something unique and special. In a first of our series of interviews with Officiants, we asked Rev. Dr. Robert Henderson some important questions: 1) Do we have a choice between a standard ceremony and a ceremony that we collaborate with you in creating? "I believe the wedding ceremony belongs to the bride and groom. It is fine if they prefer not to be involved in deciding on their ceremony; although I prefer to collaborate with the couple in creating a personal and unique ceremony that reflects who they are." 2) How long do you believe a ceremony should last? "I do not bel...

Atmosphere Productions: Honeymoons Are Happening

Image
Honeymoon planning is less affected by economy, so says a recent survey by TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com . This comprehensive report surveyed more than 17,500 US brides married in 2012.  More than 3 in 4 couples (77%) took a honeymoon. As we see the economy's effect on wedding planning continue to lessen, the impact on honeymoons continues to lessen too. The middle of the country tends to stay put, while the East and West Coasts get as far away from home as possible. 84 percent of nutmeggers and 89 percent of Rhode Islanders take honeymoons, the highest figure in the country. Only 44 percent of Alaskans make the trip. 5 Things Your Guests Won’t Tell You

Image
By Alan Berg, North America’s Leading Expert on the Business of Weddings & Events I remember hearing Colin Cowie speak to a group of Wedding Planners in NYC. He said that he tells his couples (who are spending millions on their weddings) that it’s not really their wedding. It’s their first chance, as a married couple, to host a party for their friends and family. That surprised me as we always think of weddings as being for and about the couple. The ceremony is definitely for and about the couple. The party that follows is a celebration of that marriage, with your closest family and friends. If you accept that perspective, what would you do differently? If you’ve been a guest at one, or more weddings, what would you have liked to have told the newly married couple, but you couldn’t (or you and other guests just told each other, quietly at the table or afterwards)? Here are 5 things that your guests won’t tell you (unless they’re brutally honest or blunt). ...

Atmosphere Productions: Lie, Steal, Drink and Cheat....

Image
Wedding toasts are a great way to wish the new couple well, but it can be hard to get it just right if you’ve never done it before.  Keeping it simple really helps, as well as keeping it short.   Remember that a toast is simply a way to let the new couple know that you are excited for them, and that you were happy that they made you a part of their day. The more you try to put into a toast the more complicated it can be, so don’t try to pack too much into the toast. So here's a quick and easy Toast for the Bestman: "Lie, Steal, Drink and Cheat.  Lie in the arms of the one you love.  Steal away those sorrows together.  Drink in the moments that take your breath away If you must cheat, cheat death so that you don't live a day without each other." Atmoshere Productions: Claire and Jake's All White Wedding Cencept

Image
One of the most elegant and different weddings we recently entertained, was a striking all white reception. Claire and Jake's wedding at the Litchfield Country Club, was an outdoor tented reception in an all white tent.  Dance floor, table cloths, napkins, chairs and hanging globes - all white!!!  The flowered centerpieces showed the only hint of color. We like this very much and think that Claire and Jake pulled this concept off really well.  What do you think?
