Today's wedding tradition of "Throwing The Bouquet" can be traced back to ancient times.  Although the exact origin of this early wedding tradition isn't entirely clear, today's popular acceptance has allowed it to flourish..... and besides it's just plain fun! Long ago, it was accepted that a Bride was "lucky" on her wedding day.  Many guests would want to keep a piece of that luck. Often times tearing at the Brides dress for a souvenir piece to take home.  To prevent this bothersome practice (and to save her dress) the Bride would "toss" her bouquet of flowers as an offering to those guests. Today, that bouquet is tossed to single women with the belief that whoever catches it will be the next to marry. Here’s an outline for the Father of the Bride speech: Start by Welcoming the Groom’s parents, then the other relatives, and finally the friends that are in attendance. Thank the people who have helped putting the event together. Compliment the Bride on her appearance. Talk about the Bride, her accomplishments, and her life so far. Recently, we provided musicians and sound for Katie and John's wedding at The Riverhouse in Haddam, CT.  The ceremony was officiated by Humanist Celebrant and Justice of the Peace Anita Peters . Katie and John wanted to incorporate John's daughter Kayla into the Ceremony and the Sand Ceremony just wasn't original enough.  Anita came up with The Hand Ceremony. During the exchange of vows, the Bride and Groom traced their hands, with John's daughters onto a matte with a heart in the center.  During the Cocktail Hour guests then write well-wishes in the blank space outside the heart.  Katie and John would later frame for future posterity.  What a simple, memorable and unique addition to your Ceremony.
