Atmosphere Productions: Are You A Barefoot Bride?


Barefoot sandals are not footwear, regardless of what the name may suggest. They are, in fact, foot accessories that originated in South Asia as a form of jewelry to be worn for certain celebrations and ceremonies. They were particularly popular for South Asian brides. Since they aren't actual sandals, barefoot sandals provide no protection for a woman's feet because there are no soles.

Styles may vary but, generally, they wrap around the ankles like jewelry anklets and then loop around the second toe for a look that has the appearance of a sandal top. Styles have evolved from its South Asian origins as modern fashion and jewelry designers have taken the barefoot bejeweled look and added their own spin, striving to bring a customarily South Asian look into the Western world.

Across cultures, feet have served as a canvas for art and self-expression. Women paint their toenails, get tattoos near the ankle, enjoy intricate henna designs across the foot, and choose jewelry like toe rings and anklets depending on customs and the weather. Barefoot sandals have become the latest trend, having evolved from a South Asian culture steeped in tradition and expression. Even Western brides are choosing to don these glamorous accessories at outdoor weddings, especially beach weddings where going barefoot is almost an expectation. They also make great gifts for bridesmaids to wear during a beach ceremony, and they can enjoy them every beach trip thereafter.

Another great thing about this type of jewelry is that it can be worn with actual sandals. Pairing them with plain sandals that are designed in such a way that accommodate the accessories allows you to wear them as foot jewelry. Barefoot sandals come in a variety of styles, from the most basic and casual to the most glamorous for those formal events. They are fun, stylish, and comfortable, and come in plenty of size options so you can find the right one to fit your foot. Wear them to the pool, during a summer cruise, or even dancing.

These accessories have also become popular for a bride's wedding night. Sometimes called lingerie sandals, they come in dainty white styles reminiscent of the wedding day, so they pair perfectly with bridal lingerie. Some materials used in the designs include pearls, Swarovski crystals, and seed beads. Choose a colorful and casual style for that stroll on the summer boardwalk, or a flirty, flashy design to wear with strappy heels that are ideal for experiencing the nightlife. Even young girls can enjoy cute and fun styles.
