The marriage license is an important part of the process of entering into a marriage. It indicates to the officiant that the two parties may legally marry. In order to marry in Connecticut, both parties must be over 18, apply and appear in person with a government issued photo identification at the town or city office responsible for Marriage licenses where the ceremony will take place.  Same-sex marriages are legal in Connecticut. The application process takes approximately 15 minutes depending on the time of year and town or city office. The Marriage license fee is thirty dollars ($30.00 cash is best) and is valid for 65 days. There is no waiting period or blood test required.   Typically, your banquet facility isn’t going to disappear in the dead of night with your deposit (although a few have in the past few years)…. When looking for wedding vendors, it can be a concern laying down a deposit for your photographer, DJ or videographer a year or more in advance of your wedding date. You really don’t know them. Many do not have large offices or store fronts. One way to distinguish one vendor from another is asking to see their Liability Insurance policy. Why? If a wedding vendor runs their company in a professional manner, then Liability Insurance is never an option. It is a must and simply a way of doing business. If a DJ is setting up their equipment and accidently drops a heavy speaker on someone’s foot braking it, the DJ would be covered if the individual they injured seeks damages. How about a totally unique way to arrive for your wedding?….The Essex Steam Train. Well that’s just one of the options provided to you when having your wedding at The Lace Factory in Deep River, CT.  Our recent clients Emily and David selected a more traditional mode of transportation and setting for their Ceremony though….they walked to the Deep River Landing just across the street. The possibilities at The Lace Factory really do seem endless.  Located on River Street in Deep River, just a short walk to the Connecticut River with the picturesque Essex Steam Train in-between. The interior space at The Lace Factory can hold upwards of 200, limited only by your choice of table settings.  There’s an outdoor courtyard which can be used for Cocktail Hour or Ceremonies.  Alternatively, you can have the Ceremony at The Deep River Landing, which has plenty of electrical outlets in the gazebo, overlooking the Landing.  There is a town ordinance that music must end by 10pm.

From the start Lindsay and Mike were an awesome couple…. Their radiant smiles and their fun outgoing personalities, we knew it was gonna be a fun night!! As usual, the staff at The Lake Of Isles in North Stonington were exceptional.  Even Mother Nature held off the rain with just some cloudy skies.  Needless to say that the outdoor Ceremony was just beautiful and captured by our good friends Sebastian & Phyllis of Sebastian Photography (check out more pictures on their blog here ).
